Marine HSE Specialist to Marine Operations in Sund & Bælt

Do you want to contribute to a strong safety culture in one of Northern Europe’s largest infrastructure projects?

Do you have a passion for health, safety, and environment (HSE) within marine and offshore operations? Join Sund & Bælt and play a key role in ensuring high HSE standards during the construction of the world’s longest immersed tunnel. You will become part of an international organisation defined by collaboration, professionalism, and a strong “Target Zero” mindset, where your contribution directly supports safe and efficient project execution.

The position
You will join the Marine Operations team supporting the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel project, while being organisationally anchored in the PSO function under Health & Safety in Sund & Bælt.

You will be part of a matrix organisation, where you report overall to the Head of Health & Safety, while in your day-to-day work collaborating closely with the lead for Marine Operations on the Fehmarn project.

The position is based in Rødbyhavn, offering a unique opportunity to work close to one of Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. In the longer term, there will also be opportunities to be allocated to other exciting marine projects across Sund & Bælt

Areas of responsibility

Your primary focus will be to ensure that construction and operational activities on vessels, barges, and other marine assets are conducted safely and in full compliance with HSE standards, policies, and regulations. You will play an active role in strengthening a proactive safety culture across both Sund & Bælt and contractor organisations.

  • Monitor contractors’ marine HSE activities, including inspections, audits, risk workshops, safety meetings, and vessel mobilisations
  • Support review of contractors’ method statements and ensure proper implementation and compliance
  • Contribute to internal reporting on marine HSE performance
  • Participate in investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring learning and preventive actions
  • Support collaboration with relevant maritime and HSE authorities
  • Maintain close and constructive cooperation with contractors’ HSE teams and internal stakeholders
  • Act as a visible “Target Zero” ambassador, promoting strong HSE awareness in daily marine operations

Your background
You have a relevant educational or professional background within marine operations and/or HSE. Experience as a ship officer, marine engineer, or similar is an advantage.

You bring experience from marine or offshore environments, preferably from large construction or infrastructure projects. You are familiar with relevant working environment legislation and HSE standards in a marine context.

You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.

You are a confident and pragmatic team player who works in a structured and solution-oriented manner. You thrive in a dynamic environment and build strong relationships across teams and organisations.
